All Kukris have two pockets on the back of the scabbard which hold a blunt steel called "chakmak" for sharpening the blade or for striking spark from flint and a little knife known as "karda" used for skinning small animals such as rabbits. The notch (kaura or kaudi) in the blade near the hilt of most kukris serves as conduit for the blood on the blade to drip out, thus preventing it from soiling the hilt, as well as a device for catching and neutralizing and enemy blade. Care instructions
Keep your blades healthy with proper regular cleaning after every use and the oil it with food safe mineral or coconut oil, it will prevent the coming on the blade which will keep your blade safe for life.
If you have seen rust accidentally then use WD40 to remove it .Never store your knife for long time in leather sheath. Leather can absorb water which will rust the knife. Always clean the blade after using and apply oil or wax (please use cooking oil on Chef Knife) before you store it, for its longer life and durability
The leather can be treated from time to time with a natural balm for leather products with bee wax.
Sharpening of the knife can be done with carborundum sanders or diamond sanders.
